CHERAI BEACH
Located 35 km away from Cochin, in the Cherai village of the Ernakulam district, the Cherai beach is amongst the must-visit places for anyone touring these parts of South India. Njarakkal Aqua Fish Farm
Njarakkal MatsyaFeed Aqua Tourism Centre have around 46 acres area of brackish water fish farm. It has four culture ponds along with three nurseries. The fish farm almost lies inside the lake of Vembanad. With hammocks, swings or benches on the bunds under the shady coconut trees, fishing or boating, Njarakkal Aqua farm offers numerous facilities for spending a complete day there.This tourist centre is a big aqua farm where you can enjoy beauty as well as learn some thing new about farming and fishes. Fishing is the most important sporting activity in Njarakkal Aqua fish farm. Proximity to the Malippuram beach is an added attraction of this aqua farm.
Cherai Backwaters
The backwaters are a combination of lakes, lagoons, canals & estuaries. Cherai is a a unique fishermen’s village, where one can enjoy the sunrise on the backwaters, and the sunset on the Arabian Sea. Cherai backwaters, excels a beautiful painting, with the anglers busy fishing from their country boats. The air gets dotted with the white marks of fluttering water birds. The harmony of white, green and blue - doesn't get a more perfect synonym anywhere.
Munambam Beach
Situated at the northern end of Cherai Beach, Munambam beach (Muziris Golden Beach) is where the River Periyar flows into the Arabian Sea. It is a perfect place to sit and enjoy the views, and watch local fishermen in their traditional canoes and colourful boats. The stunning sunset forms the classic backdrop and provides marvellous inspiration to any keen photographer.
Pallippuram Fort
Pallippuram Fort is a fort in Pallippuram, Vyppin, Ernakulam district of Kerala, south India. It was built by the Portuguese in 1503 and is the oldest existing European fort in India. The Dutch captured the fort in 1661 and sold it to the Kingdom of Travancore in 1789. This fort is situated in the northern extremity of the Vypeen island. This fort is in a hexagonal shape and popularly known as 'Ayikkotta' or 'Alikotta'.
Lake Poyil
Near to cherai beach lays the enchanting Lake Poyil, a unique place where the sea and the backwaters are divided by a narrow corridor of land. Waking at dawn to appreciate this stunning scenery, with the sun rising, the morning mist evaporating from the tranquil waters, and traditional fisherman casting their nets, is well worth the effort.
